Also known as a Magnetic type, a Conventional neon transformer is essentially a winding of wire which changes 120vts or 220vts to high voltage (up to 15,000vts). Conventional neon transformers have been around since the birth of neon. Most consider the Conventional type neon transformer to be the most reliable neon power source available. Note: With the relatively recent introduction of Electronic type transformers, now the major drawback to Conventional type neon transformers are their large size and heavy weight.
