Q: What is a Core & Coil Neon Transformer?

A Core & Coil neon transformer is essentially a winding of wire which changes or "transforms" household current (120vts or 220vts) up to high voltage capable of illuminating neon. Core & Coil neon transformers have been around since the birth of neon. Most consider the Core & Coil type neon transformer to be the most reliable neon power source available. With Core & Coils, there is simply less components to fail compared with today's electronic type neon transformers.

Core & Coil's are extremely stable. With the proper controller, Core & Coils can easily and reliably be flashed, dimmed and animated.

Not only to illuminate neon, Core & Coils have many uses such as ozone generating machines, model rocket launchers, scientific machines and medical devices.

A "closed" core & coil is where the core and coils are not exposed. Instead,

the transformer is put inside a plastic box, then liquid resin (aka; potting material) is poured in to fill the box which encapsulates the transformer.

The resin dries rock solid making it one tough transformer.
