Thank you for your purchase of the Rechargeable Neon Tube Tester. Please read and understand the safe and proper operation and functionality of your tester before you use it.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CAUTION <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1. Avoid touching the antenna while operating. Avoid touching any surface other than the intended test bulb/tube while operating. The high frequency this unit produces is not normally dangerous, but it can give you a shock sufficient to startle you and is capable of producing an arc, which can cause a burn to the skin, clothing, paper... etc.

2. Do not operate the tester around flammable liquids or gasses. It can produce an arc that may cause combustion.

DIRECTIONS TO RECHARGE
1. Plug the charger’s DC output jack into the left side of the tester.

2. Plug the charger into a 120vt outlet. Note: for 220vt use, install the included adapter on to the charger by plugging it in and securing with the phillips head screw provided.

3. The green lamp on the panel is turned on when charging the battery and turned off when the charging is completed.

Important: Before using for the very first time, please charge the tester.

METAL HALIDE BULB TESTING   When testing Metal Halide bulbs, you need the antenna to make contact with the center of the bulb base while pushing the tester button. At the same time, look at the Envelope located inside the lamp. If the bulb is good, the argon gas will be excited and illuminate in a blue color at the Envelope.

NEON TUBE TESTING    This tester will test both Neon and Argon Gas filled tubes. When testing, touch either the wall of the neon tube or directly touch a neon electrode wire. A good tube will illuminate. Please note: When directly touching the electrode wire/s, you will get the brightest illumination because you are directly touching the electrode, which is the part of the neon tube that introduces the power directly to the gas inside the tube. This testing location is the “sweet spot” and we recommend you test the tube in this manner for best results. When touching the wall of the neon tube, it will produce a much dimmer illumination.
Illuminating the neon tube with the tester will also reveal the color of the tube.

FLUORESCENT BULB TESTING   This tester will test for good gas in a fluorescent bulb. More times than not, fluorescent bulb failure is due to loss of gas. Less common, fluorescent failure can also be due to electrode failure. With this in mind, please note that a fluorescent bulb can show good gas but still be a bad tube because of a failed electrode. When testing, touch either the wall of the fluorescent tube or directly touch the metal electrode end. A bulb with good gas will illuminate. Please note: When directly touching the metal electrode end/s, you will get the brightest illumination because you are directly touching the electrode, which introduces the power directly to the gas inside the fluorescent bulb. This location is the “sweet spot” and we recommend you test the bulb in this manner for best results. When touching the wall of the fluorescent bulb, it will produce a dimmer illumination.

L.E.D. (Light Emitting Diode) TESTING   When testing a L.E.D., touch the face of the L.E.D. with the antenna while pushing the tester button. A good L.E.D. will illuminate. Illuminating the L.E.D. with the tester will also reveal the color of the L.E.D.
